A relaxing workshop for beginners and advanced crocheters. You can bring your own materials or use the ones we provide.

While art has always been known to be therapeutic, prisons provide few creative outlets for the people held in their carceral spaces. Most that have "arts and crafts" programs require the people imprisoned to purchase a limited amount of art supplies with their own limited funds in order to take advantage of the programs. In some prisons, yarn and hooks are allowed, and the people who purchase them have been able to create beautiful items, such as hats and stuffed animals while also finding the process to be a meditative escape.

Join us Saturday and Sunday afternoon as Escaping Time's staff introduces beginners to the basics of crochet and gives space for the more advanced on tranquil Governors Island in Nolan Park.
